Term 3

Another Term has passed and once again has been jam packed; we welcome our first Scouts to join our group and have they been busy taking part in a wide game with Beechboro Scouts, camping with Beechboro and Ballajura Scouts and no rest for them over the holiday break with Campwest first week and Jota – Joti camp the end of the holidays. Next year we hope to get the Cubs and Joeys involved in Jota.

We are still requiring another Joey Leader to ensure efficient operation of this section, this term has seen Woylie take some time off, we thank Gavin, Chris and Jane (Herne Hill Scout Group) for assisting to ensure that our Joeys have not missed out. Unfortunately we have had to cancel some nights due to lack of leaders. To help it has been decided to change the time of the Joeys, to hope this will allow another volunteer to become a leader. If you are interested please speak to Gavin or Woylie. Further information on the time change this will be available soon.

This term once again saw a number of families enjoying the family camp, and as the weather improves we look forward to the next camp on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November. The group excursion was a hit with all enjoying the rock climbing, thanks to our scouts that encouraged and supported the younger members to try their best. Well done to Katie that encouraged others and fought her own fear of heights.

Our new webpage is now up and running with a secure logon section available to most members, unfortunately we have not been able to create accounts for those that have not supplied us with an email address. All handouts and information relating to activities and events will be posted on the webpage, each section has their own blog and calendar. Also have placed a number of photos of various events and activities. To logon you need your scout number and DOB, your scout number is your user name and DOB is your password. If you have any photo's or video files to share please either email or give to us and we will upload to our galleries.

On the last day of term, we were successful in gaining a grant to assist volunteers; unfortunately this means that the funds are spent on tools and equipment for our leaders use and our youth may not see the direct benefit of this grant. We do still have some grants pending for our youth sections and hopefully we will hear back on these soon.

Finally planning for 2012 is underway, we are investigating venue options with the City of Swan, while the school has been a great location we have grown and need to expand our nights and we have been unable to negotiate the extra nights with the school due to others using the venue on alternative nights.

We need to appoint a committee for 2012 if you are interested in becoming a committee member please let us know we need a representative from each section. We welcome feedback from our parents, to help improve operations and enjoyment for you and your child.
